Calls for Trump’s impeachment after “evil” announcement about police rights

On Monday, President Trump announced a sweeping crime crackdown in Washington, D.C., vowing there would be no “Mr Nice Guy” approach. Measures include ordering the homeless to “move out IMMEDIATELY,” deploying 800 National Guard troops, and taking federal control of the city’s police for 30 days. Framing D.C. as a lawless “sanctuary for illegal alien criminals,” he claimed homicide rates surpass Bogotá and Mexico City—despite data showing crime at a 30-year low—and declared that officers could “do whatever the hell they want” when met with hostility.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser blasted the move as “unsettling and unprecedented,” while critics online called it authoritarian and “a road map” to police violence. Legal concerns also loom, as California officials challenge Trump’s earlier National Guard deployment in Los Angeles without the governor’s consent, calling it a violation of states’ rights. Still, Trump insists, “This is liberation day in D.C., and we’re going to take our capital back.”
