A British couple who died in the Air India crash shared a final Instagram video together just before boarding their flight.
Jamie Meek, 44, and his partner Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek, 39, were among the passengers on Air India flight AI171, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, India, on Thursday, June 12, according to Jamie’s brother, Nick, who spoke with The Times.
Nick said the couple had been expected to arrive home around 6:30 p.m. that day. They had spent 10 days in India attending a wellness retreat. While Jamie was away, his mother looked after his dog. The couple co-founded The Wellness Foundry, a spiritual and wellness brand.
“She is not in a good way,” he said. “It is all very raw for her at the moment. It’s a lot to take in and we only heard this news a couple of hours ago.”
Before the crash, Jamie Meek and Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek shared a final Instagram video, which has since been widely circulated on social media. In the clip, the couple appeared to be in good spirits at the airport, reflecting on their trip and preparing for the long flight home to England.
The couple had just finished what they described as a trip of a lifetime in India, sharing reflections in a final social media post the day before their flight.
They were among 53 British nationals on board Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that went down shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12. The flight was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, according to Air India CEO Campbell Wilson.

Tragically, 241 of the 242 people on board died in the crash. The only survivor is reported to be a 40-year-old British man, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. Air India stated that it is working closely with authorities on emergency response efforts and has set up a helpline for affected families.
Wilson from Air India said the airline is “actively working with the authorities on all of the emergency response efforts.” A help line was set up for family and friends of passengers.
“This is a difficult day for all of us at Air India, and our efforts now are focused entirely on the needs of our passengers, crew members, their families and loved ones,” Wilson said.
Wilson also pledged to provide clear and timely updates, emphasizing that all information shared would be accurate and free of speculation.
