Born without legs, she’s making a remarkable mark in gymnastics

A Life That Started Differently

Paige was born on June 16, 2011, in Zanesville, Ohio, without legs. Her parents, Heidi and Sean, were shocked—but they never allowed despair to define her. Instead, they nurtured a fierce spirit that would stun their small town and soon the world.

Now 14, Paige isn’t just surviving—she’s thriving. With her loyal service dog, Luna, by her side, she takes on challenges the world never built for her—and conquers them.

A Gymnastics Dream Ignited Early

At just 18 months, Paige began gymnastics. Her parents’ goal was simple: build strength and balance. But what started as therapy quickly became a passion.

By age eight, she competed at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus. Despite grueling routines and daunting bar work, she persevered. Her coach, Esther Weibel, placed her in the Xcel Bronze category, giving Paige the freedom to showcase creativity and individuality—perfect for a rising star.

Exploring New Frontiers

Gymnastics was only the beginning. Paige’s curiosity led her to cheerleading, swimming, and even archery. Initially, her father doubted her ability to pull back a bow. Yet Paige’s quiet confidence turned doubt into triumph.

Soon, she dominated the archery range, mastering technique and strength at a pace that amazed her parents and coaches. Her success came from the same formula she’s applied her whole life: persistence, effort, and unwavering courage.

An Athlete and an Inspiration

Every move Paige makes tells a story. She flips, jumps, and rolls with purpose. Her message is simple: “Never give up…follow your dreams.”

For Paige, physical movement was never just play. Every tumble and triumph was a step toward building the body and spirit of a champion.

A Body That Works Hard, A Spirit That Works Harder

Flipping without legs takes twice the effort of other gymnasts. Paige never complains. She adapts to the sport—never asking the sport to adapt to her. She focuses on her abilities, not her limitations, and everyone around her treats her as an athlete first.

Advocacy on the World Stage

In June 2024, Paige attended the U.S. Olympic Trials—not to compete, but to advocate. She highlighted the absence of para-gymnastics in the Games, sharing her journey with the world. There, she met idols like Aly Raisman and Nellie Kim, but her own words resonated the most.

Later that year, her story featured in the Prime Video documentary Built Different, capturing her grit across state and national competitions.

From Local Gym Floors to Millions of Fans

Paige’s journey now inspires millions online. Her mother began sharing updates on TikTok and Instagram, and soon, a global fanbase grew. Paige says it feels “good” to have people cheering her on. Heidi adds, “It’s amazing to see the respect and support from people who live different lives.”

Triumph and Heartbreak

Recently, pain forced Paige to make a tough choice: step away from gymnastics. It was heartbreaking, but she refused to stop. Now a high school freshman, Paige thrives in cheerleading, football, swimming, and basketball, attacking each sport with the same relentless energy.

She also returned to her old gym, helping toddlers learn the basics. Paige is the youngest employee, surrounded by former teammates who once cheered her on.

A Future Fueled by Compassion

Paige refuses to let her body define her. She is enrolled in her school’s health careers pathway, aiming to become a pediatrician. Her goal: help kids who face challenges like hers.

From the hospital bed where she was born to the Olympic stage where she advocated, Paige has never walked—but she has led every step of the way.
