Biden Slams Trump After Poll Shows Americans Prefer Obama
President Joe Biden has delivered a fiery rebuke of Donald Trump after a new poll revealed Americans favor Barack Obama over the former president.
Poll Results Show Clear Preference
A Marquette University survey, conducted between September 5 and 24 among 1,005 adults nationwide, revealed striking contrasts in public opinion.
According to the poll, 42% of Americans view Trump favorably, while 57% hold an unfavorable opinion, leaving him with a net rating of -15 points.
In comparison, 57% view Obama favorably and 40% unfavorably, giving the 44th president a +17 favorability rating.
Biden’s Sharp Words
Responding to the poll, Biden didn’t hold back. Speaking at a Nebraska Democratic Party gala in Omaha, he accused Trump of “taking a wrecking ball” to democracy.
“I knew Trump was going to take a wrecking ball to the country,” Biden said. “But I didn’t know there would be an actual wrecking ball. It’s the perfect symbol of his presidency.”
He continued, “Trump has taken a wrecking ball not only to the people’s house but to the Constitution, the rule of law, and our democracy itself.”
Criticism of Trump’s Leadership
Biden also mocked Trump’s claim that the nation is in a “golden age.”
“The only gold is the stuff he’s hanging on the mantle,” Biden said. “You work for us, Mr. President — not just for billionaires and millionaires. I’m angry.”
Biden’s Health Battle
Biden’s remarks came months after revealing his battle with prostate cancer. Back in May, his office confirmed that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of the disease, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 and metastasis to the bone.
After completing radiation therapy, Biden thanked medical staff for their care.
“I thank God for the doctors, nurses, and the breakthroughs we’re seeing in cancer research,” he said.
Call for Healthcare Support
Biden used his recovery to highlight healthcare policy differences.
“Now Trump and his Republican friends are cutting government funding for healthcare and making it more expensive for virtually everyone,” he warned.
