At 70, Reba McEntire Says She’s Happier Than Ever After Decades of Fame, Success, and Living a Life Most People Only Dream Of, All Because She Finally Learned This One Life-Changing Lesson

Reba McEntire at 70: Finding Joy, Love, and the Power of Living in the Moment

Country music legend Reba McEntire is embracing a new chapter in her life — one filled with gratitude, love, and peace. At 70 years old, the multi-Grammy Award winner says she’s happier now than ever before, both personally and professionally.

“I’m Happier Now Than I’ve Ever Been”

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Reba reflected on how content she feels at this stage of her life.

“I think I’m happier now than I’ve ever been in my life,” she shared. “It’s amazing. It’s wonderful being 70 and getting to do what I get to do at the level I want to do it.”

Even after decades in the spotlight, Reba shows no signs of slowing down. She continues to balance multiple major projects, proving that passion truly has no age limit.

A Career That Keeps Soaring

Reba’s career remains as vibrant as ever. She currently serves as a coach on Season 28 of NBC’s The Voice, where she mentors rising country stars with her signature mix of warmth and wisdom.

At the same time, she’s gearing up for the second season of her hit NBC sitcom Happy’s Place, which debuted in 2024 to rave reviews.

Her work ethic, charisma, and genuine love for performing continue to keep her at the top of her game — inspiring both longtime fans and a new generation of artists.

A Love Like Never Before

Alongside her career success, Reba is celebrating a deeply personal milestone: her engagement to longtime partner Rex Linn.

“I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn,” Reba gushed. “Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart. He’s a good guy.”

The couple’s relationship has captured fans’ hearts, known for its playful sense of humor, mutual respect, and emotional support. Their connection, Reba says, has brought a new level of peace and joy into her life.

Learning to Live for Today

Despite her confidence and success, Reba admits that learning to be present has been one of her hardest — and most rewarding — life lessons.

“The hardest lesson was to quit living for tomorrow and for yesterday,” she revealed. “That’s really hard to do, but it’s so rewarding when it clicks.”

Reba explained that she once believed being content meant losing ambition. Now, she understands that true contentment fuels growth, rather than hindering it.

“I used to think being content was a no-no, because if you’re content, you’re not going to strive to continue to do better. That’s not true,” she said. “As I tell artists on The Voice, and anybody that ever asks me for advice, I’ll say, ‘Enjoy every minute.’”

No Plans to Retire Anytime Soon

While some may be thinking about slowing down at her age, Reba isn’t one of them. She says she has no plans to retire — at least not yet.

“I don’t know when. It could be in 20 years,” she laughed. “I think I’ll know when it’s the time.”

She recalled a conversation with her friend and fellow icon Dolly Parton, who summed it up perfectly:

“Dolly said, ‘Why would I [retire]? What in the world could I do and have as much fun as what I’m doing right now?’ I agree with her a hundred percent. Slow down, maybe — but no plans of retiring.”

Grateful for the Present Chapter

At this point in her journey, Reba McEntire is focused on gratitude and joy. Between her thriving career, loving relationship, and inner peace, she says life has never felt fuller.

“I love this chapter in my life,” Reba concluded. “I’m very grateful.”

Her message — to slow down, live in the moment, and appreciate every blessing — serves as a timeless reminder that happiness isn’t about what’s next. It’s about finding joy right where you are.
