Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt’s daughter has changed her name again

Just one year after legally dropping “Pitt” from her name, Shiloh Jolie has taken yet another bold step — and this time, it’s catching everyone off guard.

Now 19, she’s reemerging with a brand-new identity, and the world only found out thanks to a quiet mention in a surprising press release. So what is she going by now? Let’s just say… it marks a whole new chapter.

For years, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has been one of the most talked-about celebrity kids on the planet. As the daughter of Hollywood megastars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, she grew up under the intense glare of the spotlight — making headlines for everything from her evolving style to her striking resemblance to both parents. But perhaps the biggest news surrounding Shiloh came just last year.

Then Shiloh revealed that she had made the decision to drop her father’s last name following “painful events.” In California, legally changing one’s name requires filing official paperwork and publishing a public notice of the intent in a newspaper for four weeks before a judge can approve the request.

Brad’s words about the change

Shiloh started that process on her 18th birthday, May 27, and later published a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times, stating her petition to change her name from “Shiloh Jolie-Pitt” to simply “Shiloh Jolie.”

In May 2024, shortly after her petition was filed, a source close to Brad Pitt told People that the actor was “aware” of the change.

A year after making headlines for legally dropping “Pitt” from her last name, the 19-year-old is now going by a totally new moniker — one fans had no idea about until it popped up in a press release.

On May 29, Shiloh made an appearance at an exclusive dinner in Los Angeles to celebrate the launch of fashion designer Isabel Marant’s new collection with Net-A-Porter, Variety reports.

While she didn’t stick around long — just mingling during cocktail hour before heading off to hang with the dancers — her role that night was significant.

Shiloh served as choreographer for up-and-coming musician Luella, whose performance of her new single “Naïve” featured dancers Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuko. But it wasn’t just her work that caught attention — it was her name in the press release. For the first time, she was publicly referred to as Shi Joli.

That’s right — Shiloh Jolie has seemingly reinvented herself once again, this time with a sleek, artistic name fit for the creative path she’s carving out.

Her own identity

While the name may be new, Shiloh’s passion for dance is well documented. She’s trained extensively with LA-based choreographer Kolanie Marks, who’s shared clips of her putting in the work on his Instagram.

And according to him, she didn’t exactly nail it on day one.

“I met Shiloh at my Millennium Class and she was going down in FLAMES …. She shouldn’t have been in there! However I saw something that was authentic … she kept coming back and yes still going down and flames!” Kolanie shared. “Not until we started doing private one on ones! I’ve spent the most time with her out of anyone I’m training in LA! Something about doesn’t quit!”

Despite being born into Hollywood royalty, Shiloh seems determined to forge her own identity — both in name and in career. And with this latest reinvention as Shi Joli, she’s showing the world that she’s ready to step into the spotlight on her own terms.

“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,” said the source. “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them.”

Shiloh may have made headlines with her name changes, but she’s not the only one in the family stepping away from the “Pitt” surname. Her younger sister, Vivienne, was recently listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for The Outsiders musical — a production she worked on alongside her mom, Angelina.

And last fall, eldest sister Zahara also made a quiet but telling statement. While being welcomed into the Mu Pi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College, Zahara introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” as seen in a video shared by Essence.
