Shiloh Jolie Drops “Pitt” from Her Name in Subtle Split from Father
Teen Makes Rare Appearance at L.A. Event
Shiloh Jolie, the teenage daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, just made a bold statement. At 19, she debuted her new name, “Shi,” during a rare appearance at a fashion event in Los Angeles.
Held at the iconic Oliver House, the private dinner celebrated Isabel Marant’s capsule collection with Net-A-Porter. It drew Hollywood VIPs, including actors, models, and designers. Shiloh wasn’t just a guest—she choreographed a standout dance routine performed by Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuki for singer Luella’s live show.
A Symbolic Name Change?
Shiloh, born May 27, 2006, was Angelina and Brad’s first biological child. The couple, known as “Brangelina,” split in 2016 and finalized their highly publicized divorce in 2024. They share six children—three biological and three adopted.
Recently, Shiloh filed to legally drop “Pitt” from her surname. She submitted the paperwork on her 18th birthday, signaling a personal shift. While it’s unclear if “Shi” is a legal or stage name, the move appears intentional.
Troubled Family Ties
Angelina and Brad’s divorce was anything but smooth. Jolie accused Pitt of domestic abuse, which he has denied. Since then, Pitt has become estranged from most of the children. Reports say he hasn’t been seen publicly with them since 2014.
Sources told PEOPLE that Pitt felt deeply hurt by Shiloh’s decision. “He’s aware and upset,” one insider said. “He’s never felt more joy than when she was born… It’s very sad.”
Another source added, “He still loves all his kids tremendously. This whole situation has been painful for the entire family.”
Attorney Responds to Public Speculation
Despite public buzz, Shiloh’s attorney, Peter Levine, clarified the facts. “Shiloh didn’t take out an ad to announce anything,” he stated. “California law requires a legal notice for name changes, and that was simply published in the Los Angeles Times.”
A Pattern Among Jolie-Pitt Children?
Shiloh isn’t alone in making changes. Her younger sister, 16-year-old Vivienne, helped Angelina produce The Outsiders musical—and dropped “Pitt” from her name in the Playbill. Similarly, in 2023, eldest sister Zahara introduced herself publicly as “Zahara Marley Jolie” in a video for Essence.
As the Jolie-Pitt children grow older, some are clearly choosing to forge identities separate from their famous father.
