JD Vance Responds After Viral Photo Sparks Marriage Rumors
Vice President JD Vance is once again facing scrutiny about his marriage. A viral Facebook photo claims he was yelling at his wife, Usha, inside a restaurant.
The image, posted by user Thomas Clay Jr., shows Vance with a tense, animated expression while Usha looks down at the table.
Vance Responds With Sarcasm
Vance, whose marriage has been under scrutiny for months, fired back on X (formerly Twitter) with dry humor:
“I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife.”
He later told NBC News that he and Usha find the speculation “absurd rather than threatening.” He added,
“With anything in life, you take the good with the bad. Our marriage is as strong as it’s ever been.”

Past Rumors Fuel the Fire
Speculation about the Vances began in October when Vance hugged Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, at a memorial event. Some critics called the gesture inappropriate, sparking online debate.
Rumors deepened when Vance admitted he hoped Usha might eventually convert from Hinduism to Catholicism. He explained:
“Most Sundays, Usha comes with me to church. Do I hope eventually she is moved by the same thing I was? Yes. But if she doesn’t, God says everyone has free will, and that’s not a problem for me.”
Usha also appeared without her wedding ring during public events in November and December, prompting further speculation.
Spokesperson Clarifies Ringless Appearances
A spokesperson for Usha emphasized that the missing rings were innocent:
“Usha is a mother of three, who does a lot of dishes and gives lots of baths. She sometimes forgets her ring.”
Vance echoed this explanation, noting that Usha had removed her rings after showering while rushing to the White House for an event with First Lady Melania Trump.
“She panicked for a moment, but I told her not to worry. Let them. It’s not worth running back upstairs,” he said.
Marriage Remains Strong
Despite persistent rumors, Vance emphasized the stability of their marriage. He and Usha married in 2014 and raise three children largely out of the public eye. Usha rarely participates in interviews and often avoids media during official events.
Recently, Usha has taken on a national childhood literacy initiative. Vance expressed pride in her work:
“It’s been amazing to see her really lean into this. When you’re in love with someone, you’re curious about what they care about and pursue.”
Public Perception vs. Reality
Regardless of Vance’s explanations, critics remain skeptical. Social media commentary continues to question the state of the Vances’ marriage.
Still, the vice president maintains that the couple is united. In his own words:
“There are certainly ways in which this is difficult on the family… but it’s the sacrifice we signed up for.”
