Jay Leno’s Latest Accident
Jay Leno, the iconic TV host and comedian, recently suffered a fall that left him with visible injuries. Although not as severe as past incidents, the 74-year-old was left with a painful-looking bruise on his face.
A History of Misfortune
Leno is no stranger to accidents. In November 2022, he sustained serious burns in a gasoline fire while working on one of his vintage cars. Then, in 2023, he was involved in a motorcycle crash that left him with broken bones.
The Latest Fall
This time, Leno’s injuries weren’t as severe, but they were still noticeable. He showed up to the Comedy For Kobe event in Beverly Hills on November 18 wearing an eyepatch over his left eye. His face was heavily bruised, and he had a bandage on his wrist.
How It Happened
Leno explained to TMZ that he had been staying at a hilltop hotel. He chose to walk down to a restaurant at the bottom of the hill, bypassing the designated path. The hill, which was 60 to 70 feet high, didn’t seem steep to him. However, he lost his footing and rolled down, hitting his head on a rock and injuring his eye.
“I fell down and rolled down the hill,” Leno shared. “Hit my head on a rock, knocked me on the eye,” he added, lifting his eyepatch to show his swollen shut eye.
Not Letting It Slow Him Down
Despite the fall, Leno didn’t let it keep him from his work. Just three hours later, he appeared on stage for a scheduled comedy show. “It’s not that big of a deal,” he said after returning to LA and visiting the hospital.
A String of Bad Luck
This accident adds to Leno’s recent string of bad luck. Last year, he was clotheslined off his motorcycle, resulting in broken bones. He humorously admitted to not learning from his past experiences: “You can’t really teach them anything. They just keep doing the same stuff over and over again,” he said.
He also reflected on how lucky he was, saying, “If I had been going 50, I probably would’ve been decapitated.”
Serious Burns in 2022
In 2022, Leno made headlines again after pictures surfaced showing burns from a gasoline fire while working on one of his cars. Despite the severity of the burns, he reassured fans, saying, “I am OK. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”
Leno’s resilience through these accidents shows his determination to keep going, no matter the setbacks.
