Turkey Cracks Down on Aisle Rushers
If you’re the type to jump up the moment the wheels touch down, consider this your final boarding call—for patience. Turkey has had enough of impulsive aisle dashers.
A Universal Flight Frustration
Air travel already tests your nerves—long lines, cramped seats, endless delays. But one habit manages to irritate passengers everywhere: people rushing the aisle before the plane fully stops.
They grab bags, block others, and ignore protocol. Now, Turkey plans to put an end to it.
New Directive from Aviation Officials
Led by Kemal Yüksek, Turkey’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation has issued new orders to flight crews. Passengers who stand too early or push ahead before it’s their turn can now face official penalties.
In a recent statement, Yüksek warned that anyone who fails to “respect the disembarkation priority” may be reported to authorities and fined under aviation regulations.
The Price of Impatience
So, what’s the cost of standing early? According to The Washington Post, the fine can reach 2,603 Turkish lira, or about $67 USD. That’s a steep price for shaving a few seconds off your exit time.
Behaviors That Could Cost You
The new rule targets several common in-flight offenses:
-
Unbuckling seat belts before taxiing ends
-
Standing while the plane is still moving
-
Opening overhead bins prematurely
-
Jumping the aisle before your row is called
Authorities emphasize that these actions disrupt order and endanger safety—not to mention they frustrate your fellow passengers.
Stay Seated, Avoid the Fine
Flying to or through Turkey? Stay put. Remain buckled until it’s your turn. That extra minute could spare you a fine—and save you the glare of everyone else on the plane.
Patience isn’t just polite. In Turkey now, it’s the law.
