After Woman’s Bold Request, Nestlé Breaks Silence with Official Statement

Note: we are republishing this story, which originally made the news in February 2016.

Woman Demands Lifetime Supply of KitKats After Wafer Mishap

A British college student made waves online after demanding a lifetime supply of Kit Kat bars from Nestlé. Her reason? Several chocolate bars in a pack she purchased were missing the signature wafer inside.

A Sweet Tooth Disappointed

Salma Ahmad, a second-year student at King’s College London, said she was shocked to find only chocolate inside her eight-pack of Kit Kats. A self-described fan of the treat, she felt let down by the quality of a product she had grown to love.

Ahmad wrote a formal letter to Nestlé, requesting both a refund and a lifetime supply of Kit Kats to make up for what she called a defective product.

Her Bold Letter to Nestlé

In her letter, Ahmad criticized Nestlé for inconsistency in their production process:

“You owe a duty of consistency in your manufacturing. Your failure led to a defective product. I’ve suffered both financial and emotional loss. I want a full refund—and a lifetime supply of KitKats so I can serve as your quality control. Clearly, you need me more than I need you.”

She went on to express her disappointment, saying that if she wanted plain chocolate, she would have bought a Galaxy bar instead.

She Wants the CEO’s Attention

Ahmad didn’t stop at customer service. She said she hoped her complaint would reach Nestlé’s CEO, adding:

“They should give in to me. I’m hoping this goes higher than just customer service. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.”

Ahmad claimed she discovered other consumers online who had similar waferless experiences and felt she had a case worth pushing.

Nestlé Issues a Response

Nestlé later responded with a public statement, encouraging Ahmad to try contacting them again:

“If a consumer finds any issue with a Nestlé product, we encourage them to get in touch by phone, online, or by post so we can investigate and make it right.”

Internet Reacts: Mixed Emotions

The story quickly went viral. While some found it amusing, others criticized Ahmad for overreacting.

One commenter wrote:

“I’m tired of these ridiculous demands. You could have returned the product to the store. Anything to get something for nothing.”

Another added sarcastically:

“One of my M&Ms didn’t have a peanut! I’m traumatized! I want a million dollars for my pain! Get a life!”

Final Thoughts

While the situation sparked laughs and outrage alike, Salma Ahmad’s bold move certainly got people talking. Whether Nestlé gives in to her demand remains to be seen—but for now, the internet has taken a big bite out of the story.
