Grief Strikes the Family
Tommy Lee Jones and his family are grieving the sudden loss of his daughter, Victoria Kafka Jones, who died at the age of 34. In a heartfelt statement, the family thanked supporters and asked for privacy during this painful time.
Family Statement
“We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers,” the statement read, obtained by Page Six on Friday evening. “Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.” It was signed simply, “The Family of Victoria Kafka Jones.”
Tragic Discovery at the Fairmont
Victoria’s body was found early on January 1, 2026, in a hallway on the 14th floor of the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. The San Francisco Police Department and hotel staff are cooperating as investigators work to determine the circumstances of her death.
Shocking 911 Call and Emergency Response
Authorities received a call just before 3:00 AM after a hotel guest reported Victoria might be intoxicated. Staff checked on her, prompting a 911 emergency response. A call obtained by the Daily Mail described a “code 3 for the overdose, color change,” signaling a high-priority response and referencing cyanosis, a condition caused by low oxygen levels in the blood.
First responders and bystanders attempted CPR, but Victoria was pronounced dead at the scene. While authorities considered a possible overdose, no drug paraphernalia was found nearby. Investigators also reported no signs of trauma, foul play, or suicide. The Medical Examiner conducted an on-scene evaluation. It remains unclear whether Victoria was staying at the hotel or how she arrived on the 14th floor.
Police and Hotel Statements
A San Francisco Police Department spokesperson confirmed officers arrived at the hotel around 3:14 AM. “On 1/1/26, officers responded to a hotel on the 900 block of Mason Street regarding a deceased person. Medics declared the adult female deceased at the scene,” the spokesperson said. “The Medical Examiner investigated on-site. Anyone with information is asked to contact SFPD at 415-575-4444 or Text TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.”
The Fairmont Hotel also released a statement to Page Six: “We are deeply saddened by this incident. Our heartfelt condolences go to the family and loved ones. Our team is fully cooperating with police authorities during the ongoing investigation.”
Remembering Victoria
Victoria is survived by her father, Tommy Lee Jones, her mother, Kimberlea Coughley, and her brother, Austin, 43. Jones and Coughley welcomed Victoria in 1991 during their 15-year marriage.
Victoria briefly pursued acting as a child, appearing in projects connected to her father, including Men in Black II, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, and a 2003 episode of One Tree Hill. As an adult, she occasionally joined her father on the red carpet, attending events like the 2017 premiere of Just Getting Started and the Tokyo International Film Festival that same year.
