Elon Musk Backs Down After Explosive Trump Comments
Elon Musk has dramatically walked back the bold statements he made about President Donald Trump last week. Their complex relationship has captured headlines for months, but recent events have taken a surprising turn.
The Trump-Musk Power Dynamic
Last year’s presidential election spotlighted the growing bond between Trump and Musk. Trump even appointed Musk as the unofficial head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This partnership sparked widespread attention. Musk frequently visited the White House, despite holding no elected office. Trump praised Musk openly and even staged a PR stunt supporting Tesla on the White House lawn when the company’s stocks were struggling.
At first, their alliance seemed seamless—two powerful, often unpredictable men working together. However, the picture was too perfect to last.

Sudden Fallout and Unexpected Accusations
By the end of May, Musk’s role in the Trump administration ended abruptly. Just days after his departure, Musk launched a fierce attack against Trump. On social media, Musk criticized Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” calling it a “disgusting abomination” that would undo much of Musk’s work at DOGE.
Then Musk escalated the situation. He claimed Trump was connected to Jeffrey Epstein files, tweeting:
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
He doubled down shortly after, warning, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
Musk’s Regret and Trump’s Response
Musk offered no proof for his claims. Soon after, he deleted the tweets and admitted on his social platform X that he had gone too far. “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk posted on June 11.
Trump, meanwhile, made it clear the relationship was likely over. “I would assume so, yeah,” he said. “I’m too busy doing other things.” Trump also reminded everyone that he had supported Musk in the past, saying, “I gave him a lot of breaks, long before this happened… I have no intention of speaking to him.”
