Accusations of Manipulation and Interference

“They tried to ruin my marriage,” Brooklyn Beckham declared in a six-page Instagram statement on Monday night (January 19). The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham accused his parents of years of control, manipulation, and mistreatment. He called the family’s image “inauthentic” and “performative,” exposing cracks behind their seemingly perfect public persona.

Brooklyn, 26, claimed his parents attempted to sabotage his marriage to Nicola Peltz. He wrote that Victoria canceled Nicola’s wedding dress last minute and even hijacked the couple’s first dance in an “inappropriate” way. He added that the family prioritized public image over the well-being of “innocents.”

“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” Brooklyn said, addressing fans who blame Nicola for their separation.
“I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

Wedding Day Conflicts

Brooklyn detailed multiple instances of tension leading up to and during the 2022 wedding. He said his mother abruptly canceled her commitment to design Nicola’s dress, forcing the bride to find an emergency replacement.

He also alleged that his parents pressured him to sign away rights to his name before the wedding.

“They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.”

Brooklyn said his mother labeled him “evil” for seating both grandmothers—Sandra and Naunni—at the couple’s table, despite their shared losses. During the reception, he claimed Victoria stepped in for the first dance, performing inappropriately in front of guests. The humiliation prompted Brooklyn and Nicola to renew their vows the following year.

Family Over Image

Brooklyn accused his parents of putting fame and branding above genuine care. He described the Beckham household as a “business,” where love was measured by social media posts and appearances.

“Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up for a photo opp—even at the expense of work commitments.”

He shared that Nicola once asked Victoria for help during the LA wildfires to aid displaced dogs, but his mother refused. Brooklyn also alleged his family orchestrated negative narratives about him and Nicola, including the false claim that Nicola controlled him.

“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life.”

Cutting Ties and Finding Peace

Brooklyn revealed a childhood filled with anxiety and fear of disappointing his parents. He said stepping away from the family brought him emotional relief.

“For the first time in my life, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief.”

After summer tensions escalated, Brooklyn instructed his parents to communicate only through his lawyer, citing mental health concerns. He said they ignored the request and continued leaking stories to the press, leaving him no choice but to speak out.

“All we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our future family,” he concluded.
