After months of bullying at school, Australian actress Clare McCann’s 13-year-old son, Atreyu McCann, tragically took his own life. At a moving ceremony in Sydney, friends and family remembered Atreyu as a creative and kind boy with artistic dreams like his mother.
Clare spoke emotionally about losing her “best friend,” recalling how Atreyu once said he chose her as his mother and promised to always love her. After being harassed and threatened by classmates, Atreyu became withdrawn and stopped going to school.
At the funeral, Clare apologized to her son, expressing her deep sorrow and love. She hopes scientific advances might one day allow her to cryogenically preserve Atreyu’s remains, though she is missing the fundraising deadline.
Clare’s goal is to honor Atreyu’s memory by protecting other children from bullying. She shared heartfelt words about how much she will miss him and the future they won’t share, saying, “You are my life’s love.”
