Actor Tyler Christopher’s most notable acting roles were on “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives”. He played the roles of Nikolas Cassadine and Connor Bishop on “General Hospital,” appearing in 1,153 episodes from 1996 to 2016. On “Days of Our Lives,” he played the part of Stefan DiMera and Signore Christofero. He appeared on 160 episodes from 2001 to 2019. Most recently, Christopher acted in the 2023 TV Movie “Ice Storm”.
Christopher’s “General Hospital” costar, Maurice Benard, broke the sad news that Christopher has died. He was only 50 years old.
In a post on Instagram, Benard posted a couple of pictures of Christopher and wrote that he “passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”
Benard praised Christopher for his many admirable qualities. He wrote, “Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting. Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him.”
Benard also shared how Christopher used his own personal struggles to try to help others. He explained, “Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.”
In a statement to PEOPLE, Frank Valentini, the executive producer of “General Hospital,” shared, “I am heartbroken over the news of Tyler Christopher’s passing. He was kind, an incredible actor, and dear friend, who was beloved by our GH family and fans of Nikolas Cassadine.”
Christopher was married twice, but both marriages ended in divorce. His first marriage was to actress Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004. His second marriage was to Brienne Pedigo from 2008 to 2021. They had two children during their marriage, Greysun James Christopher and Boheme Christopher.
He is survived by his children.
