Dubbed a “palace in the sky,” the Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet isn’t just for his time in office. Trump can also keep it after his presidency ends in 2028. This private aircraft features gold accents, pale leather seating, and even a conference room equipped with recliners. Photos taken at Palm Beach International Airport earlier this year captured the former president touring the aircraft for the first time.

A History of Lavish Dealings

During Trump’s first term, Qatari officials leased premium office space in a San Francisco building where Trump held a financial stake. They also stayed at his D.C. hotel, paying up to $10,500 per night for the presidential suite. Over time, at least 33 foreign delegations visited Trump properties, generating around $3.75 million in revenue for the former president.

Accusations of Corruption Mount

Now, critics say the plane takes those dealings to a new level. Democrats argue the gift is part of a pattern. Trump, they claim, has positioned himself for financial gain since reclaiming the presidency. One striking example? Launching his own cryptocurrency just one day before his inauguration.

Senator Chris Murphy didn’t mince words:

“This is not normal. None of this is normal. This is outlandish, illegal, unconstitutional, brazen corruption.”

Even Trump Allies Raise Concerns

Not everyone in Trump’s circle is cheering. Conservative activist and occasional advisor Laura Loomer voiced her discomfort on X (formerly Twitter):

“I love President Trump. I would take a bullet for him. But I have to call a spade a spade. We cannot accept a $400 million ‘gift.’”
