A closer look at a ‘Pretty Woman’ blooper reel photo unveils untold details

It’s been almost 35 years since the premiere of Pretty Woman, the film that quickly received the status of a cultural phenomenon.

Featuring Julia Roberts in the role of Vivian Ward, a sex worker who captures the heart of a wealthy businessman, Edward Lewis, played by Richard Gere, the movie continues to captivate audiences with its charm.

Pretty Woman, which elevated Roberts into the Hollywood’s A list and earned her an Oscar nomination, challenged the way people saw romantic comedies.

Some of the most memorable scenes, like the main character’s shopping spree and the lines, “Big mistake. Huge,” turned it into a beloved classic.

Recently, Gere joined host Scott Feinberg on his Awards Chatter podcast and revealed interesting details about the film and staring alongside Roberts.

“Let me be clear, I really like the movie,” Gere said. “Initially, I didn’t understand it. There was no character. So I read this thing and I said, ‘It’s not for me. To me it’s a suit that’s there in the movie.’

“I wouldn’t mind seeing the movie,” he recalled saying. “But I don’t see myself doing this.”

Eventually, it was Roberts who convinced him to accept the role after she took a post-it off of his desk and wrote, “Please say yes” on it.

The movie’s blooper reel reveals untold details about the actors and offers a glimpse of some awkward but adorable moments and unanticipated errors.

One specifically unforgettable “mistake” shows Roberts struggling to stop giggling while shooting an important scene. This makes Gere start laughing as well, both sharing a moment of genuine connection, which contributed to the status of a classic of Pretty Woman.

A necklace for the movie cost $250,000 and a security guard from the jewelry store watched over it during production. As of Roberts’ famous red coat, it was obtained by the director shortly before the shooting.
