Melania Trump Forces Book Retraction After Lawsuit Threat
A Lawsuit Threat Sparks Change
A new book about Prince Andrew has undergone major edits after Melania Trump’s lawyers intervened. Andrew Lownie’s Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York was released on August 14. One chapter examined Andrew’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
The first 60,000 copies included a controversial claim: that Epstein introduced Donald Trump to Melania.
Biden Repeats the Claim
Hunter Biden repeated the allegation in an interview with filmmaker Andrew Callaghan on Channel 5. He said: “Epstein introduced Melania to Trump – the connections are so wide and deep.”
That statement triggered a sharp response. Melania Trump’s legal team demanded Biden retract his words, calling them “false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory.” They warned him of a $1 billion lawsuit if he refused.
Donald Trump later confirmed he encouraged his wife to pursue the case, saying: “I told her, ‘Let’s go ahead and do it.’”

The Trumps Deny the Story
Both Melania and Donald Trump have long maintained they met in 1998 at a New York Fashion Week party. They say modeling agent Paolo Zampolli introduced them, not Epstein.
Her attorneys have pushed back on similar claims in the past. The Daily Beast once published—and quickly retracted—a story linking Melania to Epstein. Democratic strategist James Carville also had to edit a podcast episode after her lawyers intervened.
Publishers Respond
Following the controversy, HarperCollins UK confirmed it had removed the Epstein-Melania passages. “Several passages from Entitled have been removed in consultation with the author,” a spokesperson told The Independent. In the United States, Lownie will self-publish a revised edition.
Future copies will no longer include the disputed claims. However, the first 60,000 copies already in circulation will remain unchanged.
Melania’s Team Stays Firm
A spokesperson for the First Lady said her legal team is actively pursuing retractions and apologies from anyone spreading “malicious, defamatory falsehoods.” They emphasized that Melania’s own account of meeting Trump is detailed in her memoir Melania.
