‘Pulp Fiction’ actor found dead at 60 – ‘strange note’ on his door

Actor Peter Greene, perhaps best known for his work in films including Quentin Tarantino’s smash hit Pulp Fiction and The Mask, was found dead in his apartment on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, the actor, 60, was discovered unresponsive inside his Lower East Side apartment.

Police found the actor at around 3:25 p.m. on Friday, December 12, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene. Word from the authorities is that there were no signs of foul play, though a medical examiner will provide an official cause of death at a later stage.

Greene’s manager, Gregg Edwards, confirmed his client’s passing on Friday.

“He was just a terrific guy,” said Edwards. “Arguably one of the greatest character actors on the planet; Has worked with everybody.”

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, some of Greene’s first leading roles included 1992’s Laws of Gravity and 1993’s Clean, Shaven in 1993. In 1994 he secured arguably the biggest role of his professional career when he starred as iconic villain Zed in Pulp Fiction.

The film’s success made Greene’s face recognizable the world over – he still receives plaudits from fans for his performance to this day.

According to his agent, Greene’s death came as a complete surprise. The actor had been getting ready to start work on an independent film titled Mascots, where he was scheduled to star alongside Mickey Rourke.

As per a neighbor who spoke with the New York Daily News, Greene was found in distressing circumstances in his apartment on Clinton Street.

“Peter was lying on the floor, facedown, facial injury, blood everywhere…” the neighbor reportedly said.

The outlet also reported that police had discovered a handwritten note on his door. The message appeared cryptic, appearing to reference a group from his past.

“I’m still a Westie,” the note read, referring to the 1970s Irish-American gang that once operated out of Hell’s Kitchen.

Rest in peace, Peter Greene.
