That afternoon, I decided to flip the mattress and wash the sheets. Everything seemed normal until I noticed a cluster of tiny black grains tucked into the corner of the bed. They were dull yet slightly shiny, like miniature pieces of coal. My stomach dropped. My first thought: insect eggs. Maybe roaches? Beetles? My skin froze just thinking about it.
I grabbed a piece of paper and carefully scooped a few of them up to inspect. To my surprise, they were surprisingly hard and uniform in shape, not soft or powdery like typical insect eggs.
