Tragic Discovery: Rob and Michele Reiner Found Dead in LA Home
Police have shared an update after Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on December 14. Both suffered reported knife wounds.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call for medical aid at approximately 3:30 PM. Upon arrival at the Brentwood residence, they discovered the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman.
Son Under Question
Multiple sources close to the family confirmed the victims were Rob and Michele Reiner. Allegedly, their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, is a suspect. Police, however, have not officially named a suspect or made any arrests.
Authorities confirmed that Nick is alive and currently being questioned by law enforcement.
Hollywood Reacts to the Shocking Loss
The news stunned the entertainment world. Rob Reiner, famous for directing When Harry Met Sally…, The Princess Bride, and A Few Good Men, was also beloved as an actor, gaining fame as Mike on All in the Family. He was the son of comedian Carl Reiner and actress Estelle Lebost.
Rob met Michele Singer while directing When Harry Met Sally…, and they married in 1989. The couple had three children, including Nick, who has publicly discussed his long battle with drug addiction. In 2016, Nick revealed that his substance abuse began in his early teens, leading to homelessness and repeated stints in rehab. He co-wrote the film Being Charlie, inspired by his experiences.

The LAPD confirmed the investigation is ongoing. Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said both bodies remained in the home for over six hours after emergency crews arrived. Officials have not released details about the victims’ injuries or the weapon involved. The exact cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
