Amanda Seyfried says she’s ‘not f***ing apologizing’ for comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination

Amanda Seyfried is not apologizing her comments on Charlie Kirk.

Turning Point USA founder and controversial political activist, Kirk, was assassinated in September after being shot in the neck at an event at Utah Valley University.

His death was a huge shock and a lot of people publicly commented on his passing, Mamma Mia! star Seyfried being one.

On an Instagram post discussing his political views on things like abortion, Seyfried commented: “He was hateful.”

Her brief statement caused a stir and she was forced to address her sentiments in more detail.

Seyfried shared in an Instagram post to her page: “We’re forgetting the nuance of humanity.

“I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence.”

“This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings,” she added. “Can we agree on that at least?”

Now, Seyfried has discussed the matter once more and insisted that she won’t be apologizing for what she said.

Chatting to WhoWhatWear, the Jennifer’s Body star said: “I’m not f**king apologizing for that. I mean, for f**k’s sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes.

“What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course.”

Seyfried added: “Thank God for Instagram. I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized—which is what people do, of course.”

Seyfried wasn’t the only celeb to address Kirk’s death when it happened; Jamie Lee Curtis branded Kirk’s ideas as ‘abhorrent’, but also noted that he was a father-of-two and a man of faith.

She said on the WTF podcast: “I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died that he felt connected to his faith.

“Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith. And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it.”

Curtis later clarified that she wasn’t speaking about Kirk in a positive way but was ‘simply talking about his faith in God’.
