Birthday Party Tragedy in Stockton
What was meant to be a joyful day spiraled into horror when gunfire tore through a child’s birthday party in Stockton, California. Families gathered to celebrate were left grieving, shocked, and desperate for answers.
Four Dead, Eleven Wounded
Authorities confirmed that four people died, including three children, and 11 others suffered injuries during the November 29, 2025, shooting. The massacre erupted inside Monkey Space, a banquet hall hosting around 100 guests.
Grieving relatives have begun sharing harrowing details. The father of local rapper MBnel believes his son and daughter-in-law were the intended targets.
Chaos at the Party
The celebration should have been unforgettable—but in an instant, terror struck. Patrice Williams, the birthday girl’s mother, recounted the moment gunfire erupted. Guests initially froze, some thinking the noise was balloons popping, before realizing the terrifying truth.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office reported victims ranged from an eight-year-old to a 21-year-old. Injured guests included Williams’s family members and friends, one of whom was killed.
“I just want to say I’m sorry to all the mothers who lost their kids at my birthday party,” Williams said, her voice heavy with grief.
Personal Losses
Among the victims was 14-year-old Amari Peterson, a vibrant, athletic teen with dreams of college and sports. His family launched a GoFundMe campaign, describing him as “a bright, loved, and promising young soul.” As of now, $34,287 has been raised toward a $55,000 goal.
Emmanuel Lopez recounted the shooting claiming his brother, Susano Archuleta, 21, while his nine-year-old daughter survived a gunshot wound to the head.
Violence Spills Beyond the Hall
Gunfire extended outside the venue. Brandon Hernandez, a nearby resident, watched bullets tear through his walls. He and his girlfriend took cover while his dog cowered. “I thought I was going to die,” Hernandez said.
A Targeted Attack
Authorities suspect multiple shooters targeted specific individuals, possibly rapper MBnel. His father confirmed both he and his wife were shot but survived and are now in hiding.
Sheriff Patrick Withrow confirmed the gunfire began indoors and spilled outdoors, causing the high number of wounded. Investigators continue to believe multiple shooters were involved, but they are not yet labeling the attack gang-related.
Ongoing Investigation
The FBI Sacramento Field Office joined local authorities, offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the shooters’ arrests. Officials urge anyone with photos, videos, or relevant details to submit tips online or via phone, ensuring anonymity.
Emergency calls flooded in just before 6 p.m. that Saturday. Four people could not escape. Injured victims were rushed to hospitals, some in critical condition.
Community Reacts
Stockton’s Mayor Christina Fugazi called the shooting “unacceptable,” emphasizing that families should celebrate milestones, not fight for lives. She urged the public to assist investigators, stating, “Our city is better than this.”
The Sheriff’s Office echoed the plea, highlighting the importance of community cooperation. District Attorney Ron Freitas confirmed multiple agencies are actively pursuing justice.
