Legendary Mexican Singer Passed Away At 69

Mexican singer Dulce La Cantante has passed away at the age of 69. Her family announced the news of her passing on Facebook on Wednesday, December 25.

“It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of our beloved singer, Dulce.

We appreciate your support and respect towards the family at this very difficult time.”

Dulce La Cantante (1955–2024) was a celebrated Mexican singer renowned for her emotive voice and timeless contributions to Latin music. Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Her birth name was Bertha Elisa Noeggerath Cárdenas. Dulce’s passion for music emerged at a young age, leading her to perform in local festivals and talent shows. Her powerful vocals and emotional delivery quickly set her apart, capturing the attention of industry professionals.

In the late 1970s, Dulce rose to fame with her heartfelt ballads and captivating stage presence. Her signature songs, including Tu Muñeca and Déjame Volver Contigo, became staples of the Latin pop and bolero genres, earning her widespread acclaim across Mexico and beyond. Throughout her illustrious career, she released numerous chart-topping albums, securing her status as one of the most iconic voices of her generation.

Dulce was also a trailblazer for women in music, using her platform to advocate for gender equality and inspire future generations of female artists. Her ability to connect with audiences through deeply personal lyrics made her a beloved figure in the music industry and a role model for aspiring musicians.

Dulce La Cantante also showcased her talent as an actress, appearing in several popular soap operas throughout her career. More recently, she gained recognition for her role on the Netflix reality series Siempre Reinas (Forever Queens). In 2022, she joined the musical group Grandiosas on tour, delighting fans with her unforgettable performances.

In early 2024, Dulce shared the difficult news of her health struggles, revealing she had been diagnosed with a tumor that required hospitalization. By August, she disclosed that the tumor, located on her kidney, had been cancerous.

According to Telemundo52, Dulce underwent a pleuropulmonary decortication procedure in December to address complications in her lungs. Although she had taken time off from her scheduled appearances to recover, she had remained optimistic about being discharged from the hospital in the following days. Then, a week later it was revealed, the singer had pneumonia and underwent surgery.
