Early Years and First Marriage
Before he emerged as a familiar voice in American politics and television, Joe Scarborough built a family in Florida. He married journalist Melanie Hinton in 1986. The couple welcomed two sons together and later divorced in 1999.
Joe’s decision in 2001 to resign from Congress hinged in part on wanting “to spend more time with his children.” One of his sons was publicly acknowledged to have a “slight form of autism called Asperger’s”.

Second Marriage and Additional Children
In October 2001, Scarborough married former aide Susan Waren (sometimes spelled “Waren”). The pair had two more children: a daughter born in August 2003 and a son born in May 2008. They divorced in January 2013.
Marriage to Mika Brzezinski and Blended Family
In November 2018, Scarborough married his longtime colleague, Mika Brzezinski, co‑host of the show Morning Joe. Though they have no children together, the couple shares a blended family with Scarborough’s four children from his earlier marriages and Brzezinski’s two daughters from her previous marriage.

His Role as Father
Throughout these chapters, Scarborough consistently speaks of fatherhood as his most meaningful role. Whether during his time in politics or now in media, he prioritises his children and family as his anchor.
