A Tragic Accident in Texas

The rodeo world is grieving after a tragic accident claimed the life of 18-year-old Ace Patton Ashford from Lott, Texas. While tending to a sick calf, a nearby horse became startled, causing Ashford’s leg to get caught in the rope. The frightened animal bolted, dragging him across an open field.

Despite receiving immediate medical care, Ashford suffered severe head injuries and passed away shortly after the incident.

A Promising Future Cut Short

Ashford was a standout young talent in the rodeo community. Known for his focus, grit, and sportsmanship, he had earned respect both inside and outside the arena. A recent graduate of Rosebud-Lott High School, he was preparing to join the Hill College Rodeo Team this fall.

His accomplishments included several junior and all-ages championship titles, marking him as one of the sport’s most promising competitors.
