A “Wheel of Fortune” puzzle stumps viewers, and the host admits it’s “tricky.”

Contestant’s Slip-Up Stuns Viewers

On the November 18 episode of Wheel of Fortune, contestant Joey Sweet’s mistake in the bonus round left even host Ryan Seacrest baffled. Sweet, a program director from Oceanside, California, came close to winning $40,000, but misguessed a tricky puzzle.

The Puzzle and Missed Opportunity

The category was “phrase,” and Sweet had nearly completed the puzzle: “CA_ED’ ‘_ _’ ‘_AND’.” After selecting the letters C, D, M, and A—plus an extra “F” from his Wild Card—Sweet guessed “Cleared in hand.” However, time ran out, and the correct answer was “Carved By Hand.”

A Disappointed Reaction

Even Vanna White, who eagerly awaited the reveal, threw her hands up in disappointment. Seacrest, empathizing with Sweet, quickly said, “You were on the right track. This is a tricky one.” He then revealed the $40,000 prize that Sweet missed.

Staying Positive Despite the Setback

Sweet remained upbeat, responding, “It’s okay!” He left with a prize package worth over $16,000, including a trip to Mexico, which softened the blow.

The Moment Goes Viral

The clip of the puzzling moment quickly went viral, with fans flocking to social media to share their thoughts. Many commented on the difficulty of the puzzle, with one viewer stating, “I don’t think I would have solved that unless I chose the right letters.” The discussion continued, with fans noting that “By” is a tricky word in the bonus round.

More Hilarious Blunders

This incident followed a similar viral moment the week before, when contestant Will Jordan made a wild guess, “Treat yourself a round of sausages,” instead of the correct answer, “Give yourself a round of applause.” Wheel of Fortune continues to provide unexpected and entertaining moments.
