The US Treasurer Brandon Beach confirmed that plans for a new silver dollar showing President Trump on both sides are real. The coin is meant to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary next year.
Beach posted online: “No fake news here. These first drafts honoring America’s 250th Birthday and POTUS are real.” He said more updates will be shared once the government shutdown is over.

According to early reports, one side of the mock-up shows Trump’s face above the words “In God we Trust” along with the years 1776-2026. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “I am not too sure if he’s seen it yet, but I am sure he will love it!”
Federal law could complicate things, though. Current rules bar the use of any living president’s image on US currency. The presidential gold-dollar coin series also forbids new coins featuring a living or recently deceased president within two years of their death.

Because of that, this design may raise legal questions if it moves forward. Even so, it is already getting plenty of attention from both supporters and critics who see it as a bold way to mark the nation’s milestone anniversary.
