Sunlight and Anticipation
The afternoon sun streamed through the cathedral windows, scattering colors across the marble floor. Guests filled the pews, buzzing with excitement as the ceremony approached. The scent of fresh roses lingered in the air while soft whispers rippled through the crowd. At the altar, Thomas adjusted his tie. His palms were clammy, his heart racing with love and nerves for his bride, Emily.
The Bride’s Entrance
The organist began the bridal march, and every head turned. Emily appeared, glowing in her ivory gown. Her father, eyes misty with pride, guided her down the aisle. Thomas’s chest swelled with emotion. But as she moved closer, joy gave way to confusion.
A Strange Disturbance
Halfway down the aisle, Emily’s dress shifted. A ripple spread across the fabric like a wave. Thomas blinked, certain it was a trick of the light—but the movement continued. Guests murmured and craned for a better look. Emily smiled serenely at Thomas, but the ripples grew stronger. A sharp gasp from the crowd spread quickly. Thomas’s face drained of color.
The Unexpected Guest
Emily paused, sensing the tension. Her father urged her forward, but she stood still. A faint rustling rose from beneath her gown.
“Emily!” Thomas called, his voice tight with worry.
She met his gaze, lifted her hem—and revealed the source. A tiny tabby kitten peeked out from the tulle. Sunlight glistened on its orange-and-white fur as it let out a timid meow.
Laughter filled the cathedral. Emily blushed but joined in. “I told you she was mischievous!” she said. The kitten, Muffin, was a stray she had rescued months earlier. Clearly, Muffin refused to miss the wedding.
A Joyful Resumption
Thomas bent down and gently scooped up the little intruder. Relief spread across his face. With Muffin safe in Emily’s arms, the ceremony continued. Vows were spoken, rings exchanged. The kitten nestled against Emily’s heart—a tiny symbol of love and the playful surprises awaiting their future.
