Alex Kramer: The South African man married to Gillian Turner

Behind Fox News anchor Gillian Turner’s on-screen confidence is a husband with his own impressive career story — Alex Kramer, a creative powerhouse in the world of design and marketing. While he may keep a lower profile than his famous wife, Alex’s journey from South Africa to the U.S. is one worth knowing.

From Cape Town classrooms to creative leadership

Born and raised in South Africa, Alex later relocated to the United States and is now an American national. Alex’s early life remains largely private. It’s something he’s maintained even after marrying into the public eye. But his passion for design was evident early on. He studied at Red & Yellow Creative School of Business in Cape Town, earning a double major in Art Direction and Graphic Design.

He launched his career as the creator and co-founder of Strika Entertainment, a kids’ entertainment media company that made waves in South Africa. His creative direction there set the stage for what would become an international career, including serving as Creative Director at Capital One, and working with startups, growth-stage companies, and big-name brands.

Today, Alex serves as Vice President of Design and Marketing at Optoro, helping shape the company’s visual identity and customer experience.

A love story that began in South Africa

Alex and Gillian’s romance traces back to his home country, though the pair have kept their wedding details under wraps. Fans first learned of their marriage when Gillian called him “the best husband” in a sweet Instagram birthday tribute.

Since then, the couple has occasionally shared glimpses of their life together, often including trips back to South Africa to visit family.

Proud dad and family man

In July 2021, Alex and Gillian welcomed their first child, Lucia Rose Kramer, who weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces at birth. The little girl quickly became the star of Gillian’s family-focused social media posts, often appearing in candid moments alongside her parents.

Now with two children, Lucia and baby Jack, born in December 2024, Alex and Gillian are embracing parenthood while balancing two high-powered careers.

Private life, big impact

Though he’s not one to seek the spotlight, Alex’s professional achievements have earned him recognition in the design world. From co-founding a media company in South Africa to leading design strategy for major U.S. corporations, his career reflects the same drive and creativity that Gillian’s fans admire in her journalism.

Whether at home in Washington, D.C., or visiting family abroad, Alex Kramer remains the steady, creative force beside one of Fox News’ most prominent anchors. And together, they’re proving that success comes even sweeter when it’s shared.
