Charlie Kirk made eerie social media post hours before he was shot dead

Charlie Kirk’s death has sent shockwaves around the world, sparking tributes and a wave of strong political discourse online.

The 31-year-old had managed to become one of the faces of right-leaning politics in the US, an oft-controversial figure who rose to prominence via debates and divisive rhetoric, the videos recording which proved massively popular online.

Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University yesterday when he was shot through the neck by a marksman believed to have been hidden on the roof of a nearby campus building.

The tragedy unfolded when an audience member approached the microphone to challenge Kirk on mass shootings.

“Do you know many transgender Americans have been shooters over the last 10 years?” the individual asked.

Kirk responded confidently, “Too many,” as the crowd erupted in applause.

When the same person insisted the number was five and asked about total mass shooters over the past decade, Kirk replied, “Counting or not counting gang violence?” These were his final words, according to Daily Mail.

Videos from the event show the gathered crowd erupting in panic as the sound of a single gunshot rings out. Kirk can be seen slumping in his chair, moments before his security detail rush to his aid.

Sadly, the political activist was pronounced dead at the hospital around 90 minutes after being shot, though the consensus from experts online appears to be that such an injury would have killed him in minutes.

Republicans and Democrats alike posted messages paying tribute to the 31-year-old, who had garnered a large following across his various social media accounts.

Indeed, much of Kirk’s page on platform X is testament to the conviction with which he held his views. One tweet he posted on September 10, the very day of his death, drew particular attention, and arguably serves as an eerie foreboding to the events that would play out in Utah.

Referencing the horrific recent stabbing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) train, Kirk wrote: “America will never be the same.”

Shock footage from the train showed Iryna to be looking at her phone with her headphones in. Seated in the row behind her was Decarlos Brown Jr, now suspected of having stabbed her to death.

It’s reported that she had no interaction with Brown before he stabbed her in the neck in a vicious assault, before making his way further down the train carriage.

Hours after posting his tweet, Kirk was shot dead. Unless something drastic is done soon, his words may well have dangerous prophetic undertones.

Rest in peace, Charlie Kirk.
