Drew Barrymore shared a scary story about her daughter’s electric bike accident in France that left her hospitalized for several days. The actress, who has two daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 11, with ex-husband Will Kopelman, opened up about the ordeal during her Thursday appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Barrymore explained that she had been planning to meet Colbert’s wife, but had to cancel after her daughter’s fall. The star never revealed what daughter fell off the e-bike.

“The last time we were supposed to get together, my daughter ended up having an accident,” Barrymore said.

Barrymore said she was on the phone trying to explain what happened when Colbert asked if her daughter was all right. She reassured him that everything was fine before describing the frightening scene in more detail.

“My daughter, actually, she got in an e-bike accident. In France, which sounds so fabulous,” Barrymore teased. “Yes, so we were in fabulous France and then she had an e-bike accident.”

The Drew Barrymore Show host, 50, explained that her daughter had been biking high in the mountains when she badly injured her elbow. The accident sent them in and out of the ER for several days. Barrymore also shared that her quick-thinking daughter managed to control the bleeding and keep the situation from becoming even more serious.

“She ripped off her bra and turned it into a tourniquet,” Barrymore said.

Colbert remarked on how impressed he was, suggesting that Barrymore must have prepared her daughters for emergencies. Barrymore responded that it was simply her daughter’s nature and expressed her deep admiration for her.

Barrymore shared her strong belief that her true purpose in life is to raise daughters.
