Farewell to a Legend After Over 20 Years — Heartfelt Tributes Pour In

It’s the end of an era at Fox News. After more than 20 years of forecasting storms, sunshine, and everything in between, chief meteorologist Rick Reichmuth is officially saying goodbye to the network.

A farewell on FOX & Friends

Rick made the announcement during FOX & Friends on Sunday, where producers rolled a highlight reel of his best on-air moments before he addressed viewers directly.

“This was my childhood dream,” Rick shared. “I was in banking until I was 30, and this became my second career. I’ve done this, and I’ve loved it. But now I’ve started a business, and I have responsibilities with it that matter.”

That business, Weatherman, specializes in umbrellas, ponchos, backpacks, and other weather-ready essentials. Since launching, it’s already donated more than $500,000 to Folds of Honor, a charity helping military families.

A beloved Fox News figure

Rick joined Fox News in 2004 after time at CNN and Weather Services International. Over the years, he became one of the most trusted names in weather, known for his calm, clear delivery and trademark line: “Let’s take a look at the weather map.”

He also played a key role in launching the Fox Weather channel, expanding the network’s digital weather coverage. His professionalism earned him respect not just from viewers, but from colleagues across Fox News.

Tributes from colleagues and fans

The news quickly spread across social media, where Rick’s Fox family, and his fans, poured out tributes.

His dear colleague, meteorologist Janice Dean posted a touching message:
“It’s Rick Reichmuth’s last day on Fox. I’m sad I won’t see him at work, but I know he’ll be in my life forever. He’s got some amazing things planned including his #weathermanumbrella business. I’m so grateful for his friendship, advice and encouragement. I love you, Rick!♥️”

Fox contributor Joey Jones shared his own memory on X, writing:
“Today we said ‘have fun’ not ‘goodbye’ to my good friend @rickreichmuth as he leaves for a new chapter in life after 19 years at @ffweekend. He was the first FNC talent I met, and the first to invite me on the show. Here’s a clip from way back in 2014!!!”

And Rick himself marked the moment with a heartfelt Instagram post:
“I’ve been so lucky. I’m so grateful for the last 19 years. It’s time now to move on and have some new adventures. More to come on those with time, but for now there’s this. Thank you all for your support. ❤️”

Fans also flooded his Instagram with support. One wrote, “Man this must have been tough. They were so lucky to have you all these years ❤️.” Another added, “Living the dream man! Always loved watching. Proud of ya. God help the person that has to fill your shoes man! 💪🏻.” Others looked ahead to his next chapter, with one commenting, “You will be missed!!! Would love to follow your remodeling adventures in Italy! 🇮🇹.”

Even Janice Dean chimed in again with a playful reply to his farewell post: “Love youuuuuuu! So proud of you and I’m coming to visit! 😘.”

What’s next for Rick?

Though viewers will miss seeing him on weekend mornings, Rick is diving fully into his growing company and fans can expect him to keep sharing his love of weather, just in a new way.

As one commenter summed it up on Instagram: “Fox won’t be the same without you, but your next chapter is just beginning.”
