The private jet Elvis Presley used in 1962 finally sold, and the inside is incredible

Elvis Presley was well-known for more than just his phenomenal musical career and distinctive voice, which wowed listeners all over the world. Food and style were also areas in which he excelled (blue suede shoes, anyone?)

What some people may not know, though, is that the rock star was also a design wizard. To exemplify this point, consider the King of Rock’s famous personal airplane. Elvis Presley bought his own plane in 1962 and had it modified to his specifications. You can tell the place is fancy just by looking at the carpet, hardwood panels, and crimson velvet chairs.

After Elvis’s death in 1977, the Lockheed Jetstar model airplane he had possessed for almost three decades sat unused. After that, it was placed on a road in Roswell, New Mexico, USA, to serve as a tourist attraction. But, the jet was recently sold at auction in Florida for $260,000 to a telephone bidder who claimed to be an Elvis enthusiast.

Elvis and his father, Vernon Presley, were on board the jet when it first rose above the clouds. Even after more than three decades have passed since Elvis’s untimely demise, the plane has remained in the same New Mexico location. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the plane’s exterior is painted a muted red. Still, the plane is in surprisingly decent shape for its age. Check out what’s inside… I’ll just put it this way: I wouldn’t mind a long ride aboard this plane. It looks just what I pictured the King of Rock’s style to be.

The walls are paneled in wood, while the seats are upholstered in plush crimson velvet. Naturally, there is a “high tech” television set up. There is really just one big room aboard the plane. The seating appears to be of high quality, and there is ample space for visitors. A tiny kitchen can be found behind the main room.

Check out the microwave, for example. Considering how old it is, I highly doubt that it still functions. Concurrently, picture Elvis getting up from his chair, heading into the kitchen, and spreading a legendary Elvis sandwich, infamously composed of peanut butter, mayonnaise, crispy bacon, and banana, before popping it into the microwave. Fight the Past!

Check out the lavatory! Of course, there should be more velvet, and a much fancier sink. When compared to the cramped quarters on charter flights, this is a breeze.

It’s not that horrible, is it? Thank goodness I was able to see a glimpse of Elvis’s ideal vacation attire. As of this moment, the plane’s winning bid at auction was $260,000. The Mecum Kissimmee Collector Vehicle Auction in Florida hosted the sale on January 8. The new owner placed bids anonymously over the phone.

It happened in a quiet room — just Al Roker and the doctor. The words “you have cancer” hung in the air, and for the first time in years, Al was completely alone. His wife, Deborah Roberts, wasn’t by his side — not because she didn’t care, but because he’d told her not to come. “It’s just a routine check-up,” he’d said. But when he walked back through their front door, clutching that diagnosis and fighting back tears, the truth hit harder than the disease itself — he’d made the biggest mistake of his life. Deborah didn’t say a word at first. Her silence cut deeper than any sentence could. Then, finally, she spoke — and what she said left Al breathless. That moment changed everything. He vowed never again to face life’s storms alone. For the first time, he saw Deborah not just as his wife, but as the very heartbeat of his story. And somehow, in the midst of cancer’s chaos, their love didn’t break — it burned brighter. All because of one quiet, powerful sentence from Deborah — a sentence that brought Al to tears and would later move millions.
