The Reason Behind Trump Mobilizing 1,700 National Guard Soldiers in 19 States

Trump Mobilizes 1,700 National Guard Soldiers

Donald Trump has announced plans to deploy 1,700 National Guard soldiers across key states in the U.S. The troops will remain mobilized from August through at least mid-November, with a significant presence in Texas.

Other states set to receive National Guard support include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.

Objectives and Tasks

A Pentagon official told Fox News that the National Guard will help deter criminal activity. They will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with case management, transportation, logistical support, and clerical duties.

The official explained, “The in-and-out processing may include personal data collection, fingerprinting, DNA swabbing, and photographing of personnel in ICE custody.”

Trump Highlights Past Success

Trump praised previous National Guard deployments to Washington, calling the mission a success. On Truth Social, he wrote:

“I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before. The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital. The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong.”

He hinted at further deployments, stating on August 22:

“When we’re ready we’ll go in and we’ll straighten out Chicago, just like we did D.C.”

Reactions from Local Leaders

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, criticized by Trump as “grossly incompetent,” responded that he had not received official communication about any National Guard deployment. He expressed concerns:

“Certainly, we have grave concerns about the impact of any unlawful deployment of National Guard troops to the City of Chicago. The problem with the president’s approach is that it is uncoordinated, uncalled for, and unsound.”

Planning and Coordination

The Pentagon official clarified they would not speculate about future deployments. They emphasized, “The department is a planning organization and continues to work and plan with other agency partners to protect federal assets and personnel.”

Trump’s Focus on Crime and Immigration

The deployment aligns with Trump’s stated goal to take a tough stance on crime and illegal immigration. His administration is positioning National Guard troops as support for ICE operations in multiple states.
