Actor Dylan Walsh — famous for playing Dr. Sean McNamara on Nip/Tuck — was involved in a serious car accident with his family in New Jersey on Sunday, August 17.
According to the Rumson Police Department per TMZ, Walsh was riding in a 2022 Ford Explorer with four other passengers when the SUV suddenly veered into oncoming traffic. The vehicle slammed into a utility pole, continued moving, and then struck another pole, causing significant damage.
Authorities say two of the five people inside were taken to a nearby medical center with pain-related injuries, though it’s unclear who required treatment or who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.
The actor’s rep told TMZ … “Over the weekend, Dylan Walsh and his family were involved in a car accident in Rumson. Thankfully, everyone is safe and has since returned home. The family is deeply grateful for the swift response of the Rumson Police, Fire Department, and EMS, as well as the staff at Riverview Medical Center for their care.”
“They would also like to extend a special thank-you to the management and staff of The River Point Inn for their support in the immediate aftermath.”
Dylan Walsh is an American actor best known for his role as Dr. Sean McNamara on the hit FX drama Nip/Tuck (2003–2010). Born Charles Hunter Walsh on November 17, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, he grew up in a family that frequently relocated due to his parents’ work with the Foreign Service. He later settled in Virginia, where he discovered acting during his high school years.
Walsh attended the University of Virginia, earning a degree in English before pursuing a professional acting career. He made his film debut in 1987’s Soldier Boys and appeared in projects like Loverboy (1989) and Betsy’s Wedding (1990). In the 1990s, he built steady television and film credits, including roles in Nobody’s Fool (1994) and The Stepfather (2009), where he starred as the chilling title character.
His breakout came with Nip/Tuck, where he played a conflicted plastic surgeon alongside Julian McMahon. The series earned critical acclaim and established Walsh as a household name. Since then, he has appeared in numerous TV shows, including Unforgettable, Blue Bloods, and Superman & Lois, where he portrayed General Sam Lane.
