Trump unveils Melania’s full letter addressed to Vladimir Putin

Trump Reveals Melania’s Letter to Putin During Alaska Summit

Summit in Anchorage

Donald Trump met Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday, August 15, for talks on Russia’s w*r in Ukraine. The summit drew global attention, not least because Ukraine was not invited to participate. Despite ongoing speculation, no ceasefire or concrete proposal emerged from the discussions.

“Great Progress,” But No Deal

After the meeting, Trump insisted he and Putin had made “great progress.” Yet the talks ended without a ceasefire or a plan for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to consider. Reports suggested Russia might only agree to peace if allowed to keep seized Ukrainian territory — a demand Kyiv strongly rejects.

Melania’s Letter Hand-Delivered

One unusual moment from the summit came when Trump personally handed Putin a letter written by First Lady Melania Trump. According to Trump, Putin read the letter immediately. Later, the U.S. President released its full text.

Melania’s message urged Putin to think of children caught in the war. “Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or magnificent city-center,” she wrote. She called on Putin to end the invasion, adding, “Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with the stroke of the pen today. It is time.”

Reactions to the Peace Pitch

Coverage of the summit was mixed. Critics questioned why Ukraine had no seat at the table, while others doubted Russia’s willingness to compromise. The idea that Moscow might retain parts of Ukraine fueled further backlash.

Trump, however, hit back on Truth Social. “If I got Russia to give up Moscow as part of the Deal, the Fake News… would say I made a terrible mistake and a very bad deal,” he wrote. He also boasted about other conflicts he claims to have prevented.

Envoy Defends the Talks

Despite the criticism, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff defended the outcome. Speaking on CNN, he insisted the meeting laid important groundwork for a future peace deal. “We made so much progress at this meeting with regard to all the other ingredients necessary for a peace deal that we — that President Trump pivoted to that place,” he explained.
