Scott Jennings Fires Back With Brutal Response After CNN Panelist Calls Him ‘Thirsty’ for a Senate Seat [WATCH]

Salem Radio Network host and CNN political commentator Scott Jennings exchanged heated words with Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky during a segment on “CNN NewsNight” on Wednesday, after Roginsky accused him of being “thirsty” for a Senate seat, as reported by The Independent Journal Review.

The exchange began when Roginsky referenced speculation about a potential Senate run by Jennings, fueled by his April 30 appearance at a rally for President Donald Trump in Michigan.

President Donald Trump delivered a special commencement address to University of Alabama graduates on May 1, 2025.

The discussion turned contentious while panelists debated Trump’s recent decision to take federal control of Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to address rising crime.

Trump’s move came after Department of Government Efficiency staffer Edward Coristine — known by the nickname “Big Balls” — was critically injured while intervening in an attempted carjacking.

Jennings pushed back against Roginsky’s attempt to link Trump’s actions to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“Because January 6th happened, should we not enforce the law today?” Jennings asked. “Do you want murders today? Does January 6 equal no enforcement of murder? This is a silly argument.”

The discussion referenced recent high-profile crimes in the nation’s capital, including the June 30 fatal shooting of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, an intern for Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kan.), at a Metro station less than a mile from the White House, and the May killing of two Israeli Embassy employees in a shooting allegedly carried out by a pro-Hamas activist at the Capital Jewish Museum.

Roginsky pressed forward with her January 6 argument, noting that the riot endangered then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), for whom Jennings once worked. Jennings replied, “January 6th was a bad day. Murders are also bad. I want murders solved.”

The back-and-forth escalated when Roginsky claimed Jennings was “thirsty” for a Senate seat. Jennings immediately shot back, asking, “What are you thirsty for? Some kind of relevance out here? I mean, I don’t even know what you do for a living.”

Host Abby Phillip attempted to moderate the exchange, telling Jennings to let Roginsky finish her point.

Jennings accused Phillip of allowing one-sided attacks on the show, referencing CNN’s previous ban of conservative commentator Ryan James Girdusky in October 2024 after he joked about left-wing commentator Mehdi Hasan’s pager “detonating” in response to being called a “Nazi” on-air.

Despite Phillip’s attempts to keep the conversation on track, the segment concluded with both Jennings and Roginsky continuing to trade personal jabs over each other’s credibility and intentions.
