A passenger had her foul-smelling foot in the aisle, but I set her straight—and the entire cabin applauded

Chaos at 30,000 Feet

I boarded the plane expecting a calm, uneventful flight. At first, everything seemed fine. That changed the moment I noticed the young woman sitting directly in front of me. She dressed flashy and seemed to believe the world should revolve around her.

A Foot in the Aisle

Right after takeoff, she kicked off her shoes. One foot sprawled on the empty seat beside her, while the other blocked the aisle. Passengers trying to walk to the restroom or stretch their legs found themselves trapped. Initially, people politely asked her to move—but she responded with annoyed glares and hissing sounds.

Soon, she deliberately ignored requests. When one man tried to pass, she snapped:
— What, can’t you go around?!

Going around was impossible. She had stretched out as if claiming the entire row. The smell from her foot was unbearable. One woman across the aisle hid behind her scarf, and a child behind me asked:
— Mom, why does it smell like someone never changes their socks?

Calling for Help

I pressed the call button for the flight attendant.
— Excuse me, this passenger is blocking the aisle and refuses to move her foot. Perhaps she should pay for this seat since she’s using it, I said.

The flight attendant addressed her politely but firmly. The woman muttered and rolled her eyes:
— I’m not paying. I am entitled to certain privileges.

A passenger beside her chimed in:
— You cannot steal someone else’s seat like this. If you refuse payment, we can record it.

Her face turned pale. The flight attendant called the purser, escalating the issue.

Resolution and Applause

In the end, the woman had to pay the current fee for the extra seat—almost the cost of her own ticket. Finally, she sat down properly. The back of the cabin erupted in polite applause when the flight attendant left.

Passengers exchanged satisfied smiles. One woman across from me whispered:
— I’m grateful. I was also getting impatient.
