What Are These Creepy Things Covering My Car? The Shocking Answer…

I thought a bit of fuzz was stuck in my seatbelt—until it twitched.
That tiny movement turned into a nightmare when I realized my car had been invaded by Solifugae, also known as camel spiders, sun spiders, or wind scorpions. They aren’t venomous, but their speed, creepy appearance, and nasty bite are enough to unsettle anyone.

The first one was wedged between my seatbelt and the upholstery. Soon, I spotted more—by the backseat, near the door hinge. They’d blended so well into my car that I almost missed them. Their bites can cause sharp pain, swelling, redness, and possible infection if untreated.

To keep them out, vacuum thoroughly, seal cracks, avoid parking in dry, brushy areas, and use natural repellents like peppermint or citrus oil. Keep food out of the car, as pests attract these predators.

This experience was a chilling reminder that nature doesn’t always announce itself—it sometimes sneaks in, waiting for its next ride.
