If there’s one thing that we enjoy doing on a regular basis, it’s laughing. After all, laughter really is the best medicine and it can help us to have a good day, even when the day seems to be going horribly wrong.
One of the ways that we may enjoy getting a good laugh on occasion is by listening to a comedian. Amy Schumer is just such a comedian, and she does have the ability to make people laugh.
There are times, however, when comedians may say something or they may go off on a rant that doesn’t make people smile. Perhaps you remember some comedians who would get up on a soapbox as they got older, such as George Carlin.
Recently, Amy Schumer went viral by making a statement that just seemed to touch people in the wrong way. It was one of those viral moments that was cringeworthy, and many of the people who actually loved her work found it offensive.
Of course, there are times when people say things that go viral just because they want a little bit of attention. We can use social media in this way, especially if we have thousands of people that are following us.
Amy Schumer found herself as the victim of a viral moment that she initiated, and it didn’t exactly go in the direction she wanted. It was a controversial statement that took the Internet by storm, because she said that she was “the most successful female comedian of all time.” The post has since been removed.
Why do people find this so funny? Because, quite simply, she may have the ability to make us smile on occasion but she certainly is not the funniest comedian of all time. She’s up against quite a few other comedians who would compete for the role, and to proclaim herself to be at the top is not very funny.
Let’s just hope she was joking and we can move on with life. Otherwise, the debate is just going to continue.
