Scott Jennings Explains Shift From Trump Skeptic to Supporter During Podcast Interview [WATCH]

Republican strategist and CNN political commentator Scott Jennings recently discussed his transition from being skeptical of President Donald Trump to becoming a staunch supporter.

The conversation took place during an appearance on The PBD Podcast earlier this week, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

Jennings, who has served in multiple GOP political roles and regularly appears on CNN panels, acknowledged that he did not initially understand Trump’s appeal when the former businessman and television personality entered politics.

“Well, I’ve voted Republican my whole life. And I did vote for him three times. But like everybody else, I didn’t get it. I mean, I readily admit I did not get it. I did not understand it,” Jennings said during the podcast.

“I did not get how this guy who hadn’t been a Republican was coming along to take over the Republican Party. I just — I did not get it.”

According to Jennings, his perspective shifted over time as he began to grasp the broader political landscape and the policy decisions Trump implemented while in office.

He emphasized that what initially seemed unconventional began to make more sense as the alternatives became clearer.

“And so over time, I began to realize what he was doing. And I also began to realize the choice. And in 2024, for me, there was no — I mean, [former Vice President] Kamala Harris versus Donald Trump? The idea of common sense versus whatever it is she was selling,” Jennings continued.

The discussion was prompted by The Daily Show airing a segment that highlighted Jennings’ past criticisms of Trump. That clip, posted online days earlier, showed comments from Jennings before he publicly supported Trump.

The podcast co-host, Adam Sosnick, raised the topic during the interview, asking Jennings what had led to his change of opinion.

In addition to discussing his views on the 2024 election matchup, Jennings commented on what he sees as the Democrats’ current fixation on issues like Jeffrey Epstein. He appeared to characterize the renewed attention as a political diversion.

Jennings has been a consistent presence on CNN, often offering a conservative viewpoint in contrast to the network’s more left-leaning contributors.

His remarks on The PBD Podcast drew attention for their candid reflection on political evolution and critique of the Democratic Party’s direction.

No formal statement has been issued by CNN regarding Jennings’ comments.
