Adam Sandler fans spot heartwarming tribute to Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2

Fans have spotted a heartwarming tribute to Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2.

It’s been six years since Adam Sandler’s onscreen son in the comedy movie Grown Ups passed away.

The Californian actor was just 20 years old when he died due to complications from epilepsy.

Now that Sandler’s latest movie, Happy Gilmore 2, has come to the streaming platform Netflix, eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a touching tribute to the late actor in a scene.

Sandler is walking towards a check-in booth holding golf clubs and as he approaches, the person working behind the desk is apparently watching TV.

A closer look shows Boyce on the screen, sporting a blue shirt and holding a pair of binoculars.

Fans have since pin pointed where the specific clip comes from, claiming it is footage of Boyce when he played Luke Ross on Disney’s Jessie.

In the episode, Boyce’s character had broken his leg and was using the binoculars to spy on his neighbors.

Reacting to the scene, fans say they have been left in tears with one writing: “Adam put a tiny Cameron Boyce (played his son in Grown Ups) tribute in Happy Gilmore 2. Excuse me while I sob.”

Another added: “Adam Sandler subtly including Cameron Boyce in this scene from #HappyGilmore2 hits different.”

“Watching the new Happy Gilmore and the TV is playing Jessie in the background,” wrote a third. “RIP Cameron Boyce.”

A fourth chimed: “Happy Gilmore 2 was great. The honoring of Cameron Boyce was such a cute and awesome Easter egg. Bottom right of the screen they’re watching them on TV. Adam Sandler you killed it. Family is very happy.”

It’s not the first time Sandler has paid homage to the actor either, with his 2020 movie Hubie Halloween, which was supposed to star Boyce before he died, issuing a tribute that read: “In loving memory of CAMERON BOYCE.”

“Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.”

Tragedy struck on July 6, 2019, when the Disney star died in his sleep due to a seizure from an ongoing medical condition.

His family said in a statement at the time: “The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.”

The family then launched the Cameron Boyce Foundation in his memory, aiming to find a cure for epilepsy.
