Trump slammed for disturbing description of Texas floods that makes people ‘want to throw up’

Donald Trump visited Texas this week following the devastating floods, but his comments about the incident has seen him face a backlash online.

The Texas floods have destroyed homes, communities and resulted in the loss of life in a shocking display.

More than 150 people are still believed to be missing while at least 129 people have been confirmed to have died as a result of the floods.

They started early morning of July 4 when the Guadalupe river overflowed following very heavy rainfall in a short period of time.

Speaking out on the tragedy for the first time, Trump said ‘it looks like some young people have died’, in reference to the children from Camp Mystic who had lost their lives from the flood.

Authorities have already confirmed the deaths of some of the children from the camp, and noted that some remain unaccounted for.

He also explained that his administration would be working with governor Greg Abbott to provide aid and support to the state during this extremely difficult time.

However, Trump’s latest comments after visiting Texas is what caused the recent backlash.

Trump spoke about the flood as if it was a massive wave, while also giving his insights, and this rubbed people up the wrong way.

Speaking to the press on Friday, he said: “Following a torrential downpour the worst that anyone has ever seen, Guadalupe River rose 26 feet in less than 45 minutes, and I even heard it went well over 30 feet.

“There is one story, where one person said it had to be 60 feet at one moment.

“This is like a giant, giant wave in the Pacific Ocean, that the best surfers in the world would be afraid to surf.”

People on social media haven’t taken kindly to Trump’s way of describing the tragic event and have admitted to being bemused at the analogy.

One Twitter user simply wrote: “This makes me want to throw up.”

Another added: “Trump’s out here describing floods like they’re a ride at an amusement park. Meanwhile, people are drowning.”

While a third mocking Trump and commented: “I didn’t realize how terrifying it must have been until I realized that even surfers wouldn’t surf it!”

With another chiming in: “What the f**k is wrong with his brain. This is another stupid analogy. He was reading this. What idiot wrote this??!”

With another questioning the comments and writing: “Does he think a tsunami-esque wave happened in Texas?”
