Donny Osmond Shares Emotional Update from Hospital Bed
Fans Flood Him with Support After Surgery Clip
Donny Osmond, one of America’s most beloved entertainers, has opened up about another chapter in his health journey. On Wednesday, the 67-year-old singer posted a video from a hospital bed, sedated and surrounded by medical staff, prompting an outpouring of concern from fans.
From Childhood Star to Lifetime Performer
Osmond began performing professionally before he even turned six. Over the decades, he’s gained a devoted fan base—and endured more than his share of health scares.
In an interview with Metro, he recalled a terrifying moment from his youth during the height of “Osmondmania” in Manchester. A fan rushing toward him for an autograph accidentally jabbed him in the eye with a pen.
“She wrapped her arms around me as hard as she could,” Donny said. “The pen came around and hit me right in the eye. Almost took my eye out.”
Health Struggles Behind the Curtain
Health issues have followed Osmond into adulthood. During his final Las Vegas residency show with sister Marie in 2019, he suddenly lost feeling in his arms—and then his legs.
“I didn’t tell anyone what was happening… I just kept dancing and finished the show,” he told The Mirror.
Later, doctors revealed the cause: a spinal shift likely triggered by injuries from his winning run on Strictly Come Dancing in 2009. Donny underwent back and neck surgery, expecting a full recovery. Unfortunately, things took a turn.
“I thought everything was going to be fine,” he explained. “But it couldn’t have been worse.” A secondary infection left him temporarily unable to move, and he had to use a walking stick for months. He feared he might never walk again—but thankfully, he recovered.
Back in the Hospital
Now, Osmond has returned to the hospital. In a recent Instagram video, he’s seen in a hospital gown with a nasal cannula, surrounded by medical staff in an operating room. Tubes are attached as he prepares for surgery.
According to Express, Donny received a mild sedative but still found a way to lift spirits—by singing.
“When are you going to start singing?” someone in the room asked.
Without missing a beat, Donny began belting out the Disney anthem “Let’s Get Down to Business” from Mulan—even as sedation kicked in.
“I’m starting to get dizzy,” he said before falling asleep.
Fans React with Love and Concern
The clip ends with Osmond waking up and continuing to sing. In his caption, he wrote:
“What better way to power through a procedure than singing your all-time favorite rally song?! I’m feeling all better now!”
His fans wasted no time offering support:
-
“Oh, this hurt my heart. Feel better soon,” one wrote.
-
“Glad you’re all better now!” another added.
-
“Sending you healing energy and so much love,” a third commented.
-
“So sorry to hear. Get well soon,” echoed a fourth.
A Resilient Star
Despite the health setbacks, Donny Osmond continues to show resilience and optimism. Whether on stage or in a hospital bed, he’s still performing—and fans couldn’t admire him more.
