LAKE SERENITY, WI – A leisurely boating trip turned into a soggy spectacle yesterday when a woman’s dramatic jump off a small fishing boat sent it flipping into the chilly waters of Lake Serenity, witnesses report.According to onlookers, 42-year-old Brenda Thompson, described as “a larger-than-life personality with a matching physique,” decided to take a spontaneous plunge into the lake during a Sunday afternoon outing with friends.

The group was aboard a 12-foot aluminum rowboat, already packed with fishing gear, coolers, and four other passengers.“Brenda stood up, shouted ‘Cannonball!’ and just went for it,” said fellow boater Mike Larson. “The boat rocked hard, and before we could blink, it flipped like a pancake.

We were all swimming with the minnows.”The sudden shift in weight reportedly caused the vessel to lurch violently, sending coolers, fishing rods, and passengers into the water. No one was injured, though the group’s picnic lunch was lost to the lake’s depths.

A nearby kayaker, Jenny Ruiz, captured the incident on her phone, describing it as “like watching a cartoon physics lesson gone wrong.”Local authorities responded to the scene after reports of a capsized boat. The Lake Serenity Fire Department retrieved the sunken vessel, which sustained minor damage. Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Evans noted that the boat was likely overloaded, making it susceptible to tipping.

“Folks need to respect weight limits on these small crafts,” Evans said. “A big jump like that was just asking for trouble.”Thompson, who was unavailable for comment, was reportedly in good spirits after the incident, laughing as she swam to shore. Her friends, however, were less amused, with one anonymously lamenting the loss of their “best sandwiches ever.”
