It’s been nearly 19 years since the world lost legendary conservationist Steve Irwin. Known for his deep love of wildlife, Steve introduced countless people to the wonders of the animal kingdom and inspired generations through his passion and enthusiasm.

Steve tragically passed away in 2006 while filming at the Great Barrier Reef. He was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray. His friend and cameraman, Justin Lyon, recalled Steve’s final words: “I’m dying.” Despite the crew’s efforts, the injury to his heart was too severe to survive.

The loss of “The Crocodile Hunter” still weighs heavily on his family—wife Terri and their children, Bindi and Robert—who continue to honor his legacy. Bindi often shares heartfelt memories on social media, and both children have followed in their father’s footsteps as wildlife conservationists.

Steve and Terri met in 1991 and shared a love that Steve described as “love at first sight.” Married for 14 years, their bond was strong and enduring. In a 2025 interview with Stellar Magazine, Terri confirmed she’s still single, explaining, “I found my happily ever after, and I think I still have a lot of love in my life.”

Though rumors once linked her to actor Russell Crowe, Terri dismissed them, calling him a loyal friend to the family.

“I’m lonely for Steve, but I’m not lonely,” she said. “There are no rules. Women can be fulfilled whether they marry or not.”
