Eric Trump Hints at Political Future While Claiming Presidency Cost Family Billions
Presidency Comes at a Price
Eric Trump claims his father’s presidency has cost the Trump family billions of dollars—not enriched them. Speaking to the Financial Times, the 41-year-old said the family faced steep “opportunity costs, legal fees, and emotional toll” after Donald Trump entered politics.
“If there’s one family that hasn’t profited off politics, it’s the Trump family,” Eric insisted. “We’d have many more zeros behind our name had my father not run in the first place.”
A Decade of Change
Donald Trump officially launched his campaign in 2015. Since then, life for the Trumps has never been the same. Once focused on real estate and branding through the Trump Organization, the family now operates under the glare of the global political spotlight.
Now 79, Donald Trump is serving his second term in the White House and remains a polarizing figure. While many see him as one of the world’s most recognized names, that notoriety hasn’t always translated to popularity—especially for his children.
Will Another Trump Run?
Eric, the second son of Donald and the late Ivana Trump, addressed the question directly: Will he run for president once his father’s term ends?
“The real question is: Do you want to drag your family into it?” he said. “Would I want my kids to live through what I’ve experienced over the last decade? If the answer were yes, I think the political path would be easy. I could do it. Others in our family could do it too.”
Pressed further, he was asked whether 2024 would mark the end of the Trump name on a ballot.
“I don’t know,” Eric replied. “Time will tell. There’s more people than just me. But the question is, do you want to do it—and do you want to subject the people you love to the brutality of this system? I’m not sure I can answer that yet.”
Family First
Eric shares two children, Carolina and Luke, with his wife Lara Trump. For now, his concerns center on protecting them from the intensity of public life.
As political speculation continues, one thing is clear: the Trump family isn’t done making headlines—whether on the campaign trail or not.
