Stepmom delivers special wedding vows to four-year-old.

Weddings have a unique way of bringing out tears of joy in everyone.

This was a lesson that four-year-old Gage learned in a heartfelt way when he found it hard to contain his emotions during the wedding of his father, US Marine Corps sergeant Joshua Newville, and Senior Airman Emily Leehan in Ripley, New York, a few years back.

Gage was doing his best to hold it together until the moment his father’s bride shared vows she had written just for him. That’s when the tears started to flow.

It was a proud day for little Gage as he stood beside his dad while he exchanged vows with Senior Airman Emily Leehan. However, Gage had no idea that Leehan had prepared a special set of vows just for him. When she began to read them, the emotional atmosphere became overwhelming for him.

As soon as Leehan started her heartfelt words, Gage couldn’t hold back his tears any longer. According to the Daily Mail, she began with, “I want you to be safe, and to try your hardest and to be a good person.”

Before she could finish, Gage rushed to her and wrapped his arms around her, completely overcome with emotion.

Naturally, the audience responded with a collective “awwww” as Leehan tried to comfort him. “Don’t cry, baby,” she said, and at that moment, it was clear that Gage was allowed to let go of his composure.

Leehan continued, “The last thing I hope you learn is that you are a special boy. You are so extremely smart, handsome, and kind to others. You have helped shape me into the woman that I am today, and while I may not have given you the gift of life, life surely gave me the gift of you.”

It was no surprise that both Leehan and Newville were moved to tears as they exchanged their vows. Gage, on the other hand, truly stole the spotlight—not just with his dapper suit and wide-eyed expression as Leehan spoke her vows, but also with a reaction that is sure to capture hearts everywhere.

As reported by ABC7, the newlyweds Leehan and Newville had to jump right back into active duty right after their wedding, which meant no immediate honeymoon for them. Instead, they returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to start their new life together.

Nonetheless, their wedding was unforgettable. You can check out the video of Gage listening to Leehan’s vows below—just a heads up, you might want some tissues handy!

What a lovely wedding ceremony, serving as a beautiful reminder of love’s strength. We wish Joshua and Emily all the happiness in their journey together.
